Golf on the Mornington Peninsula

Prepare for a round at one of more than 15 prestigious Mornington Peninsula golf courses, making the most of an optimal natural landscape that boasts eight of Australia's top fifty courses.

Fill your cups

Tee off to the tune of the thundering Bass Strait in the region known as 'the Cups' for its proliferation of superb courses, ranging from relaxed nine holes to sensational public courses and exclusive private clubs designed by some of golfing's greatest names.

Ocean views and ancient trees

Putt above jaw-dropping coastal views at the Flinders Golf Course, wander through distinctive gnarled Moonah trees at Moonah Links (twice the host of the Australian Open), or be challenged by some of Australia's toughest golfing packages at Eagle Ridge or The National.

Unmissable targets

Play a round on RACV Cape Schanck Resort's unusual course, or at Portsea Golf Club and its cleverly-created 'blind' shots over hills combining turf, sand and natural contours. Don't let Sorrento's benign beauty put you off your game; stay focused on difficult doglegs, awkward stances and lies.

70% of the Mornington Peninsula is designated in the planning scheme as Green Wedge and this land supports a rich and varied Agriculture industry with perennial horticulture, annual horticulture, grazing, poultry, cropping and artisan food products all significant contributors to the $1.3B sector

Farming the Hinterland

Set out on two feet to explore Mornington Peninsula along rugged bushland tracks and bayside boardwalks.

Shoreline strolls and hinterland hikes

Don your walking shoes, grab a map and do your best to cover the 100 kilometres or more of walking trails included in the official Mornington Peninsula Walk. Prepare yourself to tackle the walk in its entirety, or embark on one of the shorter components to take in a diverse range of landscapes. Discover beautiful secluded bays and rugged headlands, pounding surf beaches and bushland, and lookouts with immense views.

Pound the safe and scenic walking tracks for the best perspectives of Mornington Peninsula's national and state parks, including Point Nepean, Arthurs Seat, French Island and Port Phillip Heads Marine National Park.

Take a leisurely shoreline stroll or hinterland hike, or undertake the epic two-day Arthurs Seat to Cape Schanck trek. Spot birds, kangaroos and koalas and be impressed by a series of stunning vistas.

Walk to the west

Have a change of scenery and stride along the boardwalk through Westernport's fertile mangroves and mud flats to the Bittern Coastal Wetlands, where lively birds await.

Shoreham Foreshore Reserve

The stand of about 250 pine trees (PINUS RADIATA) on the foreshore at Shoreham (The Pines) is a representative surviving example of pine trees marking a beach resort. They are a representative marker in an imposed landscape following European settlement and signify the recreational use of Shoreham as a beach resort from the 1920s although some of the trees probably date from earlier than 1920.

Pine trees were a classic seaside planting to provide windbreaks and protection for habitations behind the foreshore. Many such pine plantings around Port Phillip Bay and Western Port Bay have been or are being replaced. The landscape of which the pines constitute an important element, is of outstanding aesthetic significance. The Pines are a very impressive stand of trees, and are unique as the best example in Victoria of a stand of pines on a foreshore reserve.

Other similar plantings exist or have existed at other beach resorts. There were similar stands of pines at the foreshore reserves at Somers, Balnarring and Merricks but these are no longer intact. They have been partially removed over the past ten years
